            IMPORTANT NOTE:

On January 8, the Eaton wildfire destroyed my Altadena home, The Feathered Head’s studio and my beloved chickens, after whom The Feathered Head was named. My husband and I escaped amidst flames and are safe but tragically, nothing else remains. My neighborhood and town were leveled and none of us knows whether the quirky spirit of Altadena can ever return. The Feathered Head's studio was my heart, filled with so many gorgeous vintage hats and all the elements for my custom headpieces. You couldn’t walk one foot with bumping into sequins, rhinestones, vintage jewelry and feathers. It was a place where I could meet with my clients, talk, listen and try to help them realize their vision of the perfect headpiece or hat. Countless brides passed through the doors of the Studio’s 1904 structure and shed happy tears when together and collaboratively, we arrived at a design that represented who they wanted to be. The Feathered Head was so much more than a “job” to me. I changed careers mid-life and went from Director of Transmission / Satellite & Fiber Optics at MTV to a headpiece designer and small business owner. That’s quite an arc. I followed my passion and it led me to the most wonderful clients, many of whom became friends. But without inventory or even a permanent residence at this painful and surreal time, it saddens me to say that I have to close down The Feathered Head in its current iteration. I will miss the fun and enthusiasm of the wonderful people at Disney Dapper Day Expo and the Bazaar at the Burlesque Hall of Fame. So I take this moment to say THANK YOU to all of you for supporting my little boutique business over the years and for helping me to realize a dream. We may be back and you can still contact me for custom commissions at andie@thefeatheredhead.com. For those of you who have asked how you can help, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up by dear friends. It is with humility and grace that I have accepted this gift.
